Fuel surge tank 3 liters
This item aim to improve the fuel delivery to the engine in high speed and high G-force application. It allows the engine to be pushed hard without the fear of fuel surge. The system is comprised of from: main tank, high pressure fuel pump, low pressure lift pump(not shown in the 3D model below), fuel filters, various hoses, clamps and fittings. Additional fine fuel filter(usually 10 microns).
The tank has a capacity of 3 liters. It can be used with external high pressure fuel pump, as the pictures below, or with in tank pump. The fitting arrangement on the first pictures are as follows from left to right. First one is suction from the tank to the high pressure pump. Second one is fuel return from fuel pressure regulator. Third is fuel return from the surge tank to the main fuel tank. Fourth is fuel in from the main tank. Fifth one is again to the high pressure fuel pump. Both suction fittings are connected to pipes that run to the bottom of the tank, to ensure continuous fuel deliver. There are some features that need to be added to the top lid of the fuel surge tank, like: high voltage connectors, in case of in tank pumps, ventilation port with anti spill valve in case of accident or roll over.
The fuel pumps in the pictures below are BOSCH 0 580 254 950 from Mercedes W124. Each one can deliver 148 litters per hour(39 gallons per hour) at 5 bar(72.5PSI) of pressure. The fuel filter are from the same vehicle BOSCH 0 986 AF8 092.
The number of fuel pumps will depend on the engine output and the application. You can use one pump, two working simultaneous, they also can be staged, or have one of them as a back up in case of endurance race.
