Lada(VAZ) 16 valve SOHC head engine
Thing that I have on my mind for a very long time. Building a 16 valve cylinder head for classic models Lada is a big dream of mine. After a lot of iterations this is the final result. Single cam 16 valve cylinder head for Lada. The head uses the stock camshaft, my main issues with the other 16 valve cylinder heads that I’ve developed, but for them later. Two valve will be operated by a one rocker arm that will rode on the camshaft with a bearing. Valve lash adjustment will be with screw and a lock nut. For the prototype stock Lada parts like: valve guides, springs and retainer will be used. Later some of this parts can be replaced by Honda parts. The head cooling will be like on the stock one and the oil drain as well. The head can be rotated 180 degrees, so I can have the timing belt gear at the front or back. This is a feature that I need for another project. On the original head, the hot water is drawn from the front of the head. Here you can do it from the both sides. Pulling the hot water from the back of the head seems to be a better solution and will improve the cooling and heat distribution. The 16 SOHC Lada cylinder head will be equipped with camshaft position sensor, which will allow for fully sequential spark and fueling. The intake and exhaust will be specified while I am preparing the patterns for the casting. The core for the head is made in such a way, so I will need one core box with some additional pieces for the whole head.
